Heather LeflerHeather Lefler

Heather M. Leffler, MSW, LCSW

Portland, OR  97232
(503) 261-9696

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, licensed through the Oregon Stated Board of Clinical Social Workers.  Additionally, I am a member of the Oregon Society of Clinical Social Workers.

I received my BA in Psychology from Indiana University in 1992.  After working in community mental health for 4 years, I returned to school and obtained my Masters in Social Work from Portland State University in 1998.  Until recently, much of my professional experience has been in small, community-based agencies.  In these positions, I have had the privilege of working with a wide range of people- from persons living with HIV and their families, to providing counseling for uninsured individuals and couples, largely from the queer and transgender community.

I am a relational therapist and work from a broad theory-base, curtailing the session to the needs and personality of the individual.  I create an environment of respect and acceptance that supports the client on their journey to themselves.  I specialize in

  • Life Transitions,
  • Anxiety and Depression,
  • Grief and Loss,
  • Sexual Orientation,
  • Coming Out,
  • Gender Identity and Transition,
  • Relationship Issues, and
  • Living with HIV/AIDS.
I provide kink-friendly counseling.
