In my work as a Transpersonal counselor I focus on psychological, emotional and spiritual development rather than pathology.  I view all human experience as purposeful and oriented toward expanded awareness, soul development and personal growth.  In my work with individuals and couples I assume that life moves naturally toward significant transformations.  These inner shifts and transitions, however, can be confusing, frightening, and overwhelming.  I meet you in these transitional moments with genuine caring, acceptance, and a deep interest in your story as well as in the patterns of your life. 

I encourage self-understanding, the development of awareness and greater degrees of health by facilitating the integration of life's lessons through various techniques and approaches drawn from a number of therapeutic disciplines.  My areas of specialized training and expertise include women's issues, gender issues, religious and spirituality issues as they impact psychological and emotional functioning, relationship and couple issues, and the challenges involved in depression, life transitions and loss.

My training includes a Master's degree in Counseling earned in 1979 from San Diego State University.  I have been in private practice for 25 years and am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Oregon.  I hold a Master of Divinity 
degree from the Jesuit School of Theology at the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley, California where I received my training as a spiritual director and mentor.  I am a member of Spiritual Directors International and a member of the Oregon Mental Health Counselors Association.
